Removal of microbial indicators from municipal wastewater by a membrane bioreactor (MBR)

► Removal of bacterial indicators is not affected by the fouling. ► Removal of virus depends on the formation of irremovable fouling. ► The removable fouling does not show any effect in the virus retention. ► Both bacteriophages studied show the same retention by a membrane (0.4 μm)
