This paper puts forward some ideas about how human beings construct their ego, their self-image and their self-esteem; about the way society portrays disabled persons, the idea it has held and does hold about them. It is well-known that what is expected of a person, plans made for the future and for life, the expectations others have for a person, are fundamental for personality development. If the message is that a person is useless, then they are unlikely to become anything. The social portrayal of persons with disability is thus decisive in their mental development.
