Acetylcholinesterase inhibitors reduce spreading activation in dementia

► Acetylcholinesterase inhibitors (AChEIs) focus attention. ► As such AChEIs may also reduce spreading activation. ► We compared dementia patients who were and were not taking these medications. ► Dementia patients taking AChEIs had reduced spreading activation. ► This might be detrimental to their memory functioning.
