► Anti-oxidant potential of phenolic extracts of brewers' spent grain in vitro. ► Oxidant-induced DNA damage using Comet assay in U937 cells. ► Protection against damage induced by H2O2 and SIN-1, but not by t-BOOH and 4-NQO. ► Relationship between total phenol content and anti-oxidant potential.
