Empirical, thermodynamic and quantum-chemical investigations of inclusion complexation between flavanones and (2-hydroxypropyl)-cyclodextrins

► We investigated inclusion complexation between flavanones and cyclodextrins (CDs). ► We found hydrophobic interaction is the key driving force for the inclusion process. ► The complex was likely stabilised by H-bonds between flavanone B ring and CD cavity.
