A preliminary assessment of consumer's exposure to organochlorine pesticides in fruits and vegetables and the potential health risk in Accra Metropolis, Ghana

► Selected pesticide residues in fruits and vegetables and peoples' awareness were investigated. ► Pesticides were present in fruits and vegetables. ► The survey revealed more than 70 % of the participants complained poisoning on eating fruits. ► The public is in the know of pesticide residues in fruits and vegetables. ► Children the most vulnerable part of the population was at risk with some pesticides.
