Mangosteen xanthones, α-and γ-mangostins, inhibit allergic mediators in bone marrow-derived mast cell

► Mangosteen xanthones inhibited allergic mediators in bone marrow derived mast cells. ► Production of IL-6, PGD2 and LTC4, degranulation of histamine, and COX-2 expression were suppressed by α-and γ-mangostins. ► The present results suggest potentials of α-and γ-mangostins as anti-allergic molecules.
