Antihypertensive effect of mulberry leaf aqueous extract containing γ-aminobutyric acid in spontaneously hypertensive rats

► We compare the antihypertensive effect of WEML and GABA in SHR rats. ► WEML and GABA lower systolic blood pressure (SBP) transiently. ► SBP-lowering effect of WEML is higher than GABA alone. ► WEML also inhibits angiotensin I-converting enzyme (ACE) activity. ► WEML lowers SBP in vivo that may involve ACE inhibition in addition to GABA.
