Effects of the marine microalgae Isochrysis galbana and Nannochloropsis oculata in diabetic rats

► We examined clinical and microbiological changes in a diabetic rat model treated with marine microalgae. ► The consumption of Isochrysis galbana showed a tendency to diminish corporal weight and glucose. ► I. galbana and Nannochloropsis oculata did not diminish LDL levels. ► Consumption of N. oculata showed signs of intestinal damage.
