IPG-strips versus off-gel fractionation: Advantages and limits of two-dimensional PAGE in separation of microsomal fractions of frequently used plant species and tissues

► Sample preparation has been optimised for 2D-PAGE of microsomes. ► The buffer system is suitable for off-gel and convenient IPG-strip applications. ► Off-gel fractionation revealed high resolution of proteins in the alkaline pH range. ► Off-gel fractionation is combined with BAC/SDS-PAGE or SDS/SDS-PAGE.
