The role of annual circulation and precipitation on national scale deposition of atmospheric sulphur and nitrogen compounds

► Sulphur and nitrogen deposition changes significantly with changes in the weather. ► These changes can reach 17% of the deposition budget from year to year. ► Deposition changes due to annual circulation are greater in the UK than in Poland. ► Deposition changes due to precipitation are similar in the UK and Poland. ► In Poland, changes in nitrogen deposition due to precipitation are greater than those due to abatement of N emissions.
