Synthesis, characterisation and metal complexation reactions of two calix[4]arene derivatives functionalised with pendant benzamide arms

► We have reported calix[4]arene derivatives as potential ligands for fluorescence studies. ► We are currently targeting attachment of functional groups, excluding imine functionalities. ► Two new calix[4]arene derivatives containing benzamide arms were synthesised. ► Only metal acetate salts were bound selectively by one of the derivatives.
