► Synthesis of dinculear Cu(II) metallohelicates. ► CH⋯π (metal-chelate ring) interaction influenced helical conformation. ► The D/L and P/M global chirality in the dinuclear helical complex results into mesocate. ► The tetradehdrally distorted square planar Cu(II) helicate as an excellent catalyst for nitroaldol reaction.
