Solution and solid-state studies of complexation of transition-metal cations and Al(III) by aroylhydrazones derived from nicotinic acid hydrazide

► Coordination reactions of aroylhydrazones with transition-metal cations and Al(III) were studied by spectrophotometry and spectrofluorimetry. ► Solid complexes of Cu(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II) with both ligands were isolated and characterised. ► Cu(II) and Ni(II) complexes adopted exclusively dimeric structures whereas Zn(II) complexes adopted both monomeric and dimeric structures.
