Spatial effects of urban rail upgrades

► A rail upgrade leads to property value uplift in areas serviced by a station. ► Value uplift is generally maximised close, but not adjacent, to a station. ► Diminution in value uplift close to a station reflects negative amenity factors. ► Urban redevelopment near the station can offset this value diminution. ► These aspects are demonstrated using an upgrade to the Auckland rail network.
