Preparation, characterization and technological evaluation of CMC derived from rice-straw as thickening agents in discharge, discharge-resist and burn-out printing

► Water soluble CMC samples could be prepared from rice straw. ► The D.S. depends on the concentration of the etherifying agent. ► Pastes prepared from these derivatives are pseudo plastic. ► Thickeners for different printing styles were prepared from Egyptian rice straw.
