Effect of sectioning and water on resin-embedded sections of corn starch granules to analyze inner structure

► A clear resin-embedded section for analysis of the fine inner structure of starch granules was obtained. ► The effects of sectioning and water in the section were studied by AFM and SEM. ► We found that wrinkles, expansions and depressions were formed on the section surface during sectioning. ► We were able to observe clear inner structure of the starch granule.
