Identification, characterization and functional analysis of a GH-18 chitinase from Streptomyces roseolus

► A 40 kDa chitinase was purified from culture medium of a Strepromyces species. ► The N-terminal sequence was highly homologous to the GH-18 conserved domain. ► It showed good thermal and pH stability. ► It displayed potentials for future use of chitinolytic and antifungal properties.
