Bionanowhiskers from jute: Preparation and characterization

► Bionanowhiskers were extracted from jute by acid hydrolysis for the first time. ► These were characterized by different sophisticated analytical techniques. ► In FTIR, absence of peak at 1738 cm−1 indicated removal of hemicellulose. ► Rod like morphology (length - 550 ± 100 nm, width - 77 ± 30 nm) was observed.
