Biodegradation of PVP-CMC hydrogel film: A useful food packaging material

► Hydrogel films prepared with PVP-CMC are crossed linked and blend material. ► PVP-CMC film could absorb the moisture released by fresh fruits and vegetables. ► PVP-CMC = 20:80 shows mechanical strength as well as biodegradable properties. ► Biodegradation study conducted in presence of liquid environment (Czapek Dox medium). ► In liquid environment the degradation rate of PVP-CMC film is slow.
