► Liquiritia glycyrrhiza heteropolysaccharide was extracted. ► HPGPC and FTIR was used for analyzing the heteropolysaccharide. ► Weight-average molecular weight of heteropolysaccharide was 2.936 × 105 Da. ► A typical infrared spectrum of heteropolysaccharide was observed. ► Liquiritia glycyrrhiza heteropolysaccharide may improve immunity function.
