Purification, characterization and hypoglycemic activity of extracellular polysaccharides from Lachnum calyculiforme

► We had separated and purified an extracellular polysaccharides (LEP-1) from Lachnum calyculiforme fermenting liquor. ► LEP-1 was detected as the homogeneous component with molecular weight of about 445.363 kDa. ► LEP-1 was glucopyranose polymer by GC-MS, IR and NMR analysis. ► LEP-1 had a strong hypoglycemic effect in alloxan diabetic mice.
