► In this study we have developed novel polymeric flocculants. ► Flocculants are controlled biodegradable and based on modified polysaccharides. ► Graft copolymer synthesized by microwave assisted method is the best. ► With the increase in radius of gyration, the flocculation efficiency enhanced.
