Effects of amylose/amylopectin ratio on starch-based superabsorbent polymers

► We investigate effect of amylose/amylopectin ratio on starch-based superabsorbent polymers. ► We find that grafting ratio and efficiency increase with increasing amylose content. ► The results of chemical reactions correspond with that of water absorption ratio. ► Graft reactions and performance of starch-based SAPs are explained by molecular structures.
