► Water soluble graft copolymers of xyloglucan and PMMA have been synthesized. ► Grafting of PMMA on XG improved thermal stability and shelf life. ► Grafting introduces more reactive sites on XG without affecting its hydrophilicity. ► These new materials have potential to be exploited by pharmaceutical industry.
