Green synthesis of easy care and antimicrobial cotton fabrics

► High molecular weight chitosan is subjected to enzymatic hydrolysis. ► Cotton is treated with the enzymatically degraded chitosan in presence of BTCA. ► The finished fabrics display easy care and antimicrobial properties after 15 washes.
