Electrochemically controlled release of molecular guests from redox responsive polymeric multilayers and devices

► A novel platform technology for a tunable molecular payload release is presented. ► Organometallic poly(ferrocenylsilanes) (PFSs) are used as a carrier medium. ► The release behavior of guest molecules was monitored by fluorescence spectroscopy. ► Composite multilayers show redox and pH responsive control over the dye release. ► Area addressable pulsed release of molecular payload is demonstrated.
