Atomic force microscopy on chromosomes, chromatin and DNA: A review

► We describe the use of AFM in Chromosome research, chromatin research and DNA research. ► We focus more on the measurement capabilities of the AFM than on its imaging capabilities. ► We show the SMFS has a bright future in molecular biology.
