Detection of human erythrocytes influenced by iron deficiency anemia and thalassemia using atomic force microscopy

► Iron deficiency anemia and thalassemia were studied. ► Using AFM, changes of erythrocytes could be detected at the nanometer scale. ► AFM was a good tool for detecting and distinguishing of the two type anemia.
