Uranus' cloud structure and seasonal variability from Gemini-North and UKIRT observations

► Uranu's clouds are changing with season with northern zone brightening and southern zone fading. ► Clouds in zones at 45° N,S have lower pressures than clouds at equatorial latitudes. ► Lower cloud pressure at 45° N,S suggests a different composition, possibly methane ice. ► Centre-to-limb observations suggests a distinct cloud top above the equatorial clouds. ► Mid-latitude discrete clouds are very high (200 to 500 mb) and are detached from the main cloud deck.
