Na-jarosite dissolution rates: The effect of mineral composition on jarosite lifetimes

► Na-jarosite dissolution rates measured at 277-323 K and pH ∼ 1-10 in dilute solutions. ► Minimum rates at pH 3-4; rates increase with increasing H+ and OH−. ► Na-jarosite dissolution comparable, but slightly faster than K-jarosite. ► Maximum jarosite lifetimes <1500 years in dilute fluids at Meridiani Planum.
