In the 1980s, the hospice movement had tried to resist the debutante medicalization of our lives, but turning to the medical scientism, it paradoxically made palliative care an instrument of medicalization of death. Palliative care has become a medical specialty in its own right, denying the questioning that had set in motion. Subjected to the process of manipulation of living and desubjectivation generated by neoliberal societies, they are at an impasse, defending their positions, particularly in the field of ethics.
