La démarche réflexive et interdisciplinaire en éthique de la santé : un outil d'intégration des savoirs et des pratiques

A reflective and interdisciplinary approach that integrates an ethical dimension is becoming essential to health care practice, which is increasingly confronted with complex cases that often result from misuse of life-sustaining measures and are exacerbated by the scarcity of institutional health care resources. The approach developed here falls under a pragmatic ethic that takes into account the present context of clinical decision making processes which impose difficult choices on health care providers, patients and their families. This paper aims to 1) describe certain high-tech care situations that give rise to ethical problems and dilemmas; 2) define the nature of these ethical dilemmas and problems; 3) propose and explain an original approach to facilitate the integration of an ethical dimension to the clinical decision making process.
