Involvement of plasmin-mediated extracellular activation of progalanin in angiogenesis

► We show that the role of progalanin activation in extracellular component. ► MMP activities and angiogenesis were increased by treatment of galanin or progalanin. ► Plasmin inhibitor diminished MMP activities and angiogenesis of progalanin. ► Extracellular processing of progalanin is a novel mechanism for tumor growth.
