Application of multianalyte microphysiometry to characterize macrophage metabolic responses to oxidized LDL and effects of an apoA-1 mimetic

► OxLDL rapidly activates both aerobic and anaerobic metabolic pathways in the macrophage. ► L-4F can inhibit the aerobic respiratory response and prevent respiratory burst. ► L-4F and the DMPC/L-4F complexes attenuated the macrophage respiratory burst in response to oxLDL. ► L-4F showed most attenuation and reversal of the response when coupled with oxLDL prior to exposure.
