The subcellular localization of cyclin B2 is required for bipolar spindle formation during Xenopus oocyte maturation

► Cyclin B2 was localized in the germinal vesicle and at the perinuclear region. ► Localization of cyclin B2 in the perinuclear region was perturbed by its N-terminus. ► Overexpression of Eg5 rescued a spindle defect induced by cyclin B2 N-terminus. ► Myc-Eg5 was localized at the perinuclear region and close to endogenous cyclin B2. ► The proper localization of cyclin B2 is essential for bipolar spindle formation.
