Overexpression of myeloid zinc finger 1 suppresses matrix metalloproteinase-2 expression and reduces invasiveness of SiHa human cervical cancer cells

► Stable SiHa cells overexpressing MZF1 were established. ► Overexpression of MZF1 decreases cell migration and invasion, and down-regulates MMP-2 promoter activity. ► MZF1 directly binds to MMP-2 and suppresses MMP-2 promoter activity. ► MZF1 may serve as tumor suppressor of human cervical cancer cells.
