► Human tumor tolerant monocytes down regulate MHCII molecules, as well as CIITA. ► These cells combined an impaired Ag-presentation with a potent phagocytosis. ► CCL monocytes share all the determinants that characterize tumor tolerant cells. ► Tumor-tolerant monocytes share the main features as LPS-tolerant cells.
