Hyaluronan-chondroitin hybrid oligosaccharides as new life science research tools

► Hybrid oligosaccharides from hyaluronan and chondroitin were synthesized. ► These neo-oligosaccharides are not found in nature. ► They were synthesized by transglycosylation of hyaluronidase. ► They were used as substrates to find a new recognition site by hyaluronan lyase. ► Hyaluronan lyase acted on some substrate β1,4-N-acetylgalactosaminide bonds.
