Requirement of protein l-isoaspartyl O-methyltransferase for transcriptional activation of trefoil factor 1 (TFF1) gene by estrogen receptor alpha

► PIMT knockdown suppresses E2-induced expression of TFF1. ► Overexpression of PIMT increases the level of TFF1 mRNA. ► PIMT interacts with ERα. ► PIMT is recruited to the TFF1promoter together with ERα in an E2-dependent manner. ► Our results suggest that PIMT act as a co-activator in ERα-mediated transcription.
