Deletion of the Hoc and Soc capsid proteins affects the surface and cellular uptake properties of bacteriophage T4 derived nanoparticles

► T4 derived NPs lacking Hoc and Soc capsid proteins were developed and characterized. ► T4ΔHocΔSoc NPs have zeta potential ∼−33 mV at pH 7.0. ► T4ΔHocΔSoc NPs are 116 nm in average size at pH 7.0. ► T4ΔHocΔSoc NPs have significantly higher cellular uptake efficiency by tumor cells.
