Role of angiotensin II-mediated AMPK inactivation on obesity-related salt-sensitive hypertension

► AMPK was inactivated together with higher AII level in the kidney of obese mice. ► AII-inhibition improved obesity-related AMPK inactivation and hypertension. ► AII infusion inactivated AMPK in the kidney and caused salt-sensitive hypertension. ► AMPK activation increased sodium excretion and improved salt-sensitive hypertension.
