Cyclic stretch induces upregulation of endothelin-1 with keratinocytes in vitro: Possible role in mechanical stress-induced hyperpigmentation

► Influence of cyclic stretch on melanogenetic paracrine cytokines was investigated. ► Keratinocyte-derived endothelin-1 was upregulated with cyclic stretch. ► Degree of upregulation increases dose-dependently. ► This upregulation possibly plays a role in the pathogenesis of pigmented disorders.
