High density lipoprotein downregulates angiotensin II type 1 receptor and inhibits angiotensin II-induced cardiac hypertrophy

► AngII induces cardiac hypertrophy through activating angiotensin II type 1 receptor in mouse cardiomyocytes both in vivo and in vitro. ► HDL inhibited the upregulation of angiotensin II type 1 receptor provoked by stimulation of AngII. ► HDL abrogated the AngII-induced cardiac hypertrophy through inhibiting the angiotensin II type 1 receptor.
