► CD40/CD40L interaction induces leukocyte adhesion to human endothelial cells. ► Enhanced leukocyte adhesion following CD40 stimulation is mediated by an E-selectin dependent mechanism, while l-selectin is not involved. ► CD40/CD40L interaction reduces VEGF-induced endothelial cell migration by inhibition of Akt/eNOS signaling.
