Kinetics of demetallation of a zinc-salophen complex into liposomes

► A Zn-salophen complex has been incorporated into POPC extruded liposomes. ► The phospholipid-Zn-salophen coordination slowly leads to complex demetallation. ► The process follows first order kinetics and can be followed fluorimetrically. ► Demetallation rate constants have been measured in water and in buffer solution. ► The incorporation of the complex enhances the stability of liposomes.
