Visualization of ceramide channels by transmission electron microscopy

► Ceramide self-assembles in single wall liposomes to form large stable channels. ► The channels were visualized by negative staining and electron microscopy (EM). ► Channels are cylindrical in nature. ► Channel diameter is not strictly limited by the energetics of channel curvature. ► The channel size distribution observed by EM matches with electrophysiological data.
