Cdc48/p97, a key actor in the interplay between autophagy and ubiquitin/proteasome catabolic pathways

► The Cdc48 chaperone plays a major role in the ubiquitin/protesome pathway. ► Recently, Cdc48/p97 also appeared to be involved in autophagy, another catabolic pathway. ► This review will focus on the functions of Cdc48 in autophagosome biogenesis and selective autophagy.
