Two novel families of antimicrobial peptides from skin secretions of the Chinese torrent frog, Amolops jingdongensis

► Two novel families of antimicrobial peptides were identified from torrent frog. ► Jindongenin-1a shows no sequence similarity with other antimicrobial peptides. ► The second family members are homologous to palustrin-2. ► These peptides possess broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity. ► The peptides also display cytotoxic activity on mammalian cancer cell lines.
