Diepoxybutane interstrand cross-links induce DNA bending

► We examined potential DNA bending of interstrand cross-links induced by diepoxybutane. ► Cross-linked DNA had anomalously low electrophoretic mobility in native polyacrylamide gels. ► Our findings are consistent with DNA bending of ∼34° per lesion towards the major groove.
